Runes, static, and the way over

The Bifrost Bridge · detail

In the myths, the Bifröst is the burning rainbow bridge between Midgard (the world of men) and Asgard. It is guarded, it is temporary, and it is the only way across.

When I drew The Bifrost Bridge, I wasn't thinking about gods. I was thinking about the two people who share my name: the one I'd been, and the one I was becoming. Transformation is messy, jagged, and loud. Until it isn't.

The blue static in the piece is the noise of the old world. It never fully goes quiet, and I stopped waiting for it to. The runes are the steady ground: waystones set into the noise, each one a decision that held.

I am no longer just surviving the storm; I am building a way over it. That's what the haus is for. Every piece in it is a plank in that bridge.
