anomalihaus

The artist · The haus

An anomaly needs a haus.

anomalihaus is the studio and workshop of Alexander Nelson, an artist working in Atlanta, GA. The name is the mission: a home for the work, and the people, that don’t fit the grid.

The work is made by hand. Colored pencil and graphite pressed into paper until the boundaries stop holding. Wood layered block by block. Preserved moss set into a Fibonacci spiral. Nothing in the haus began as a file; everything began as material, pressure, and time.

The through-line is transformation. Ego death, rebirth, grief, the bridge between who you were and who you are becoming. The pieces borrow the old Norse language of thresholds because it is the most honest vocabulary we have for change: a burning bridge you cross anyway, runes as steady ground inside the static, ashes as soil.

The self must be dismantled before the spirit can be designed. Every piece that leaves this studio was made inside that fire and is meant to hold its heat on your wall: a daily reminder that the storm can be built over, not just survived.

The three houses

Everything made here leaves through one of three doors. Studio Nord is the print house: hand-drawn originals reproduced on stretched canvas and cold-pressed watercolor paper. Artefakter is the object house: carved, layered, one-of-one works that exist exactly once. Cold Thread is the wearable house, and its first drop is being cut now.

Work with Alexander

Commissions and installations are taken a few at a time: residential, studio, and commercial spaces. If you have a wall and a becoming, start a conversation.
